Biketober Fest
Great Eskape sent four riders to Howard County Biketoberfest in search of beer, mostly. The course itself was really difficult for a mid-Atlantic due to the 1,000 foot elevation per lap profile of the course, plus a big log, some gravel track, and a lot of twists and turns. On balance the course suited us pretty well and we all got pretty good results. Unfortunately, Addison went down hard in the first lap after getting cut off and knocked into the tape by some roadie (hey Reckless in Pursuit of Glory is OUR motto, stay in your lane!) but Dylan got top 10, and Kevin and Andy both got solid results. All in all, we all had a bit too much to drink from Flying Dog's beer stand while partying with the Hub Labels guy. Basically it's best to sum the race up through the following two exchanges:
Kevin to the Flying Dog bartender: "How many drink tickets to fill this Growler?"
Bartender: "I don't know, no one has ever asked me that before"
and
and while I (andy) was sloppily lubing my chain before the race start: Kevin: "oh yeah Andy, that's how you do it - pour the grease on your brake tracks, that's how its done"
Andy: "I guess I'm going to have a pretty fast race now..."
So that's it for me for the next couple weeks, as I am going on a mid-season vacation from cross until Winchester Applecross at the end of the month. 'Til then, peace!
