The Big Dumb Ride

A podcast dedicated to the joys, miseries, and lessons left unlearned from your big dumb bike rides.

If you ride or race bikes for long enough, you're bound to have one (or many) bike rides that were ill-conceived, didn't go as planned, or that were just plain hard. But these are the rides that give stories to tell and teach us a thing or two about who we are and remind us why, no matter how ridiculous the endeavor, we love to ride our bikes. This is a lighthearted interview-style podcast dedicated to exploring the misadventure stories from some of your big dumb rides.

The Hosts:

Andy

Great Eskape co-founder, pizza-as-ride-fuel-lover, endurance cyclist - Andy lives primarily in the Washington, DC area and prefers to keep his two wheels on unpaved surfaces more often than not. Slower than most, Andy is at his best, and happiest, when the route is long and the excitement is unexpected. Biggest, dumbest ride: the 2020 Huracan 300 Mountain Bike Race (350 miles in less than 56 hours.)

Sarah

Road racer turned gravel grinder, Sarah rides out of her home in Washington, DC seeking road-side goat encounters and unexpected marmot sightings. Usually pushing the pace on the climbs, Sarah is the closest thing to a real athlete this podcast can boast, racing for Rise p/b Rapha DC and Bluemont Connection. Biggest, dumbest ride: 300k gravel grinder in summer 2020.
