Just Keep Pedaling...

“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, cannot be heard, cannot be smelt, it lies behind stars and under hills,
and empty holes it fills, it comes first and follows after, ends life, kills laughter.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

We had lost the race against the setting sun. A day of dense fog and rain was quickly becoming night. After nearly 70 miles of rain, mist, and mud; riding the bikes over rocks, roots, and ruts; with legs throbbing, back aching, and teeth chattering we stood affixing lanterns to the bikes in the gathering gloom. While getting back on the bike a mantra of motivation formed.

"I am tough and I am strong. After this day - I will be tougher and I will be stronger."
