Serendipity on the TVA: 550 Miles and a Roll of Superia X-tra 400 Film

A photoset taken in Spring 2021 during a tour of the Trans Virginia (TVA) bikepacking route. Taken with a Minolta SRT 201 35mm camera and Fujifilm Superia X-Tra film. Looking back at this photoset puts me back in a special time and place. I can even remember the way the air smelled when I snapped a couple of these. I’m grateful to have these and the memories they trigger and I am also grateful to be able to share them.

There has been plenty written on the internet about the beauty and meaning of “struggle” on the bicycle, but the whole damn last 18 months had been a struggle and we were not all about that. We had a general feel for the route, our setups were dialed in with as many creature comforts as our bags would carry. I even brought along my Minolta SRT-101, a bag of Kodak Ektar film, and a couple of lenses. Not exactly consistent with “pack light, move fast” but am I so very glad that I did.
